CSC 214 is a comprehensive introduction to theories and practices in Database Design and Management. Database Management I concentrate on principles, design, implementation and application of Database Management Systems. Students are introduced to the fundamental theories, concepts and techniques needed to properly understand and implement the relational database model which is the bedrock of today’s mainstream database products A Database is a shared, integrated computer structure that is repository to: -End-user data, that is, raw facts of interest to the end user -Metadata, or data about data describes of the data characteristics and the set of relationships that link the data found within the db.
